Dennis & Judy Allen

Since we had never been involved in the home-building process, we were understandably somewhat leery of embarking upon such a major venture.

In 2003 we purchased four building lots near Cleveland, SC with the intention of ultimately building a second home on one of the lots.  “Ultimately” became 2004, the next year, when we decided to take the plunge.  Peery Construction had been referred to us by Gail and Danny Bolt for whom Jon had built a home.  We contacted Jon Peery, sat for an interview in his office as we interviewed him – and as he interviewed us!  The meeting was a huge success and Jon asked to see our house plans prior to making a final judgment.  We also met with Nelson Neal, Peery Construction’s “numbers guru” who explained in detail those cost factors we were interested in.

We came to a mutually agreeable cost and time-table for the construction process and Peery Construction embarked upon the building of a 2,500 square foot, 4 bedroom, 4 full baths, 3-story mountain house.  Jon assigned Tom Martin as superintendent of the project on a full-time basis.  Without exception, Jon Peery was present at the property every Wednesday morning to review the progress with us along with Superintendent Tom Martin who was also in attendance.  It is fair to say that Peery Construction does not build houses in the price range as ours, but Jon and his construction team treated us just like they were building a million dollar edifice.

Any fears that either my wife or I had about building our second home were allayed.  Jon was ALWAYS available to talk to us about any matter and did so in a reasonable, professional manner.  We never questioned his integrity nor his customer focus.

He offered up suggestions to our house plans that we had never considered – and that made sense.  The sub-contractors Peery Construction utilized reflected Jon’s work ethic and attention to detail.  Jon and his employees are people you would be inclined to invite to your home for dinner!

Even after the house was completed in 2005, Jon made himself available to us.  He personally came to the house on two separate occasions to address different, minor issues that were corrected.  For repairs to our permanent home in Greenville, we have hired several employees of Peery Construction – always with exceptional results.

In 2016 we sold our mountain house.  During the 11+ years we lived at 80 Canyon Crest Trail on a part-time basis, we often remarked to each other what a wise decision to have asked Peery Construction to build us a home we were able to fill with so many wonderful memories.  We shall always be indebted to Jon and his “band of dream makers.”
