Jon Peery, President & Founder

Jon started on a construction site right out of high school in Redding, California in 1977. Three years later, in 1980, he moved to Greenville, SC to study accounting at Bob Jones University. He used his construction background to put himself through college. By his junior year, while living in the dormitory, he employed 3 carpenters framing homes for other general contractors in the local area. Jon married Debbie Deuink between his junior and senior years of college and finished his accounting degree in 1984. With the encouragement of his father-in-law, he took the general contractor’s exam instead of the CPA exam, and started his general construction business in 1986. The Lord blessed Jon and Debbie with opportunity to raise 7 children who currently have provided them with eleven grandchildren.

When Jon is not helping someone build their dream home, he stays busy with family, church activities, the Gideon ministry, and chasing critters in the woods. He has a passion for Christian missions around the World and in particular, the camp ministry of the Wilds based in North Carolina.

Matt Garrison, Chief Financial Officer

Matt moved to the Upstate to take over as Chief Financial Officer at Peery Homes upon the announcement of Nelson Neal’s retirement (now referred to as CFO Emeritus). Matt has a master’s degree in accounting from the University of South Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is responsible for the office side of the company and focuses on providing detailed financial information to our clients throughout the construction process.

Prior to joining Peery Homes, Matt served in the Marine Corps and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He previously worked at EY, Raymond James, Jabil Inc., and The Siegfried Group. He brings a strong financial background (and sense of humor) to Peery Homes. When he is not in the office, he enjoys working on his farm with his wife and three kids raising cattle, sheep, and riding their horse.

Michael Willcox, Lead Estimator

Michael is a Michigan native, but has called the Upstate home since 1987. Michael has been in construction management for 35 years and he has been using his extensive estimating skills for 10 years with Peery Homes. He and his wife Rachel have been married 22 years and have 3 children and currently call Spartanburg home.

Although his family keeps him very busy, Michael is an avid reader when he finds the time. The Willcoxes also enjoy discovering breweries when they travel.

Russell Peery, Vice President

Upon graduation with a bachelor’s degree in Residential Construction/Business Management, he continued with the company and in 2012 became a project manager on renovation projects. In 2014, he started building new homes for the company and now is also involved in estimating, sales and project management.

Following in his father’s path, Russell stays busy with his family, church activities, and hunting whatever is in season.

Dan moved to Greenville in 1984 and started working for his brother Jon. After learning the fine details of being a trim carpenter, he started his own trim carpentry business in 1992. During the housing downturn, he went to work at a heavy equipment rental company. Because of his attention to detail and building experience, he became Peery Home’s estimator in 2015. It is his goal to give our clients the most accurate estimate for their project, so there are no surprises to the budget during the building process.
